Badfinger-Klassikers „Without You“
Die Veröffentlichung knüpft an die jüngste „Steelheart 30“-Kampagne der Band an, mit der das Jubiläum ihres platinprämierten, selbstbetitelten Debütalbums von 1990 und ihres Welthits „She’s Gone“ gefeiert wurde. Der Song „Without You“, der ursprünglich 1970 von Pete Ham und Tom Evans für Badfinger geschrieben und später auch durch Harry Nilsson oder Air Supply unsterblich gemacht wurde, erhält damit spät seine definitive Steelheart-Fassung. Neben orchestralen Neuaufnahmen und einer limitierten Vinyl-Auflage befindet sich Matijevic, der 1992 einen schweren Bühnenunfall überlebte und später unter anderem der Musik im Film Rock Star seine Stimme lieh, bereits im nächsten kreativen Zyklus: Für das Jahr 2026 ist ein neues, eigenständiges Hard-Rock-Projekt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Gitarristen Niclas Engelin (The Halo Effect, ex-In Flames) angekündigt.

The arrival of "Without You" follows hot on the heels of the band's "Steelheart 30" retrospective campaign, which celebrated three decades since their platinum-selling 1990 self-titled debut and their signature multi-chart-topping power ballad "She's Gone." Written by Badfinger's Pete Ham and Tom Evans for their 1970 album No Dice, "Without You" became a historic standard through subsequent renditions by Harry Nilsson, Air Supply, and Carey. Matijevic, whose resilient career includes surviving a near-fatal 1992 stage accident, providing the singing voice for Mark Wahlberg's character in the movie Rock Star, and fronting touring iterations of The Doors, is keeping his creative momentum high. Looking forward into 2026, the vocalist is set to launch a brand-new, original hard rock project collaborating with guitarist Niclas Engelin (The Halo Effect, ex-In Flames).
