Afrofuturistics kündigen Debüt-EP „The Enigmatic“ an; psychedelisches Musikvideo
zur Single „Daydream“ feiert Premiere
Die EP wurde in den Maynott Studios aufgenommen und vom Grammy-prämierten Toningenieur Rollin Weary in den Deluxe Studios gemischt und gemastert. Für das visuelle Konzept zeichnete unter anderem Katia Jackson verantwortlich. Das begleitende Musikvideo zu „Daydream“, produziert von Trompeter Scott Free, kombiniert extreme Nahaufnahmen der Bandmitglieder mit psychedelischen Montagen und den traditionell westafrikanischen Gemälden des Künstlers Abdoulaye Conde, der auf der EP zudem die Kora einspielt. Neben den prägnanten Saxofon-Solos von Keith Wakefield und Gastmusiker Luc Mosley glänzt die Formation, die kürzlich als „Best Hip-Hop Group“ beim Chicago Reader ausgezeichnet wurde, durch die lyrische Untermalung von MC Brother Tone sowie Gastbeiträgen der Underground-Crew Sands Of The Hour. Eine offizielle Release-Show findet am 29. August 2026 im Le Piano in Chicago statt.

for New Single 'Daydream'
The EP was tracked at Maynott Studios with Eric McWhorter and mixed and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Rollin Weary at Deluxe Studios, featuring collaborative design and photography from Katia Jackson. The striking music video for "Daydream," produced by band member Scott Free, juxtaposes slow-motion close-ups of the musicians with vibrant, West African-motif paintings by Abdoulaye Conde, who also contributed traditional Kora textures to the record. Highlighting towering saxophone solos from tenor player Keith Wakefield and guest soprano Luc Mosley, the project highlights the visionary foundations laid by founders Erik Oldman and Karl "Brother Tone" Isaacs. Fresh off winning Best Hip-Hop Group in the Chicago Reader's Best of Chicago 2025 poll, the band has locked in a hometown EP release show on August 29th, 2026, at Le Piano.
